Bad move...but by who?
A few days later...
My question is:
Who is at fault?
A. The graffiti artist for selling out?
B. The agency for coming up with the idea?
C. The product itself, Hummer H3, for being a massive gas guzzler?
D. The defacers of the ad?
E. Or myself for spreading the news which in fact helps generate more press?

That's an interesting ad. Of course they knew it would be de-faced, but I'm not sure why they'd want that exactly. I thought of a similar concept for Krylon Paints -- a blank canvased billboard... but I don't think Krylon wants to promote their product as an illegal tool.
Oh, and the answer is probably E. Now that I think about it again, they want the press to hound it.

I'm not sure these were actually defaced. Looks like Photoshop. Especially since the H3 logo was defaced in two different ways.

I think the additional layer of graffiti just makes it look more like a "street art". May be that's why they still put the ad on even tho they knew it'd be "defaced". Without it, the ad is probably too clean and confined. Of course, eventually the whole ad will get covered up. Now that's bad.
